| I was on my way to Albany the other day and I saw that a new bbq place is opening in Doerun. Smokin' BBQ Pit, I think is the name.
Any Doerun folks know any details about it?? | |

| i have not tried it yet but all the reports i have got are good!! the only problem i see is that they do not have indoor dining. the local farmers do not want to sit in their truck and eat lunch!! they need to be able to sit down in a cool place to eat. there is plenty of room in the building for a place to sit down for a spell!! | |

| I tried the chipped bbq and rib plate last night, two sides and bread $9.75.. was very generous portions. Now here's 'my' opinion (don't forget all those sayings out there) I enjoyed the chipped pork, and slaw, I was not as pleased with the ribs or hickory baked beans. I am not saying that it was anywhere near bad because it wasn't, not at all, but I will try the chicken before the ribs again. I have had the pleasure of judging a few BBQ contests this is in the middle; these are again my tastes, give it a try it just may be the best thing you ever put in your mouth. I did not get the owners name but he was very enthusiastic about it, and welcomes comments, which he will get. They have ribs, chicken, chipped bbq, slaw, tater salad, beans, chips drinks, homemade sweet potato pie etc in just about any size you want. Reasonable prices too Go pay them a visit 11am-9pm Mon-Fri, 11am-3pm Sat

| ok i tried it tonight. the bbq sammach was wonderful. very large and bbq falling out all around it. the chicken leg quarters were a little less impressive. the baked beans were a lot less impressive. can you say pork and beans?? have not tried the ribs yet, did not want to invest $11 in 1/2 a slab. the owners were super nice. they have purchased tables and chairs for inside dining. i will defiantly go back. | |

| Me and the Mrs. tried it out recently and let me say, "If you're gonna play in Texas you gotta have a fiddle in the band !" Okay, here's my review. I had the sandwich, chips and tea combo. The sandwich was delicious. Smoky and large, great flavor. The only downside was the small container of sauce that came with it. Not enough in my opinion. Maybe two containers for a large sandwich ? The iced tea was a rip-off. It tasted like a cup of water with a touch, a tiny touch, of sugar. No tea flavor whatsoever. We had planned on eating in the Doerun Bicentennial Park but it was so windy we decided to drive back to Moultrie to eat at home. Warning, check your bag before leaving the Smokin' Pit to make sure all items are included. My wife had the rib plate with cole slaw and potato salad. The sides were very good. The ribs had a nice smoky aroma BUT there was NO BAR BQ Sauce included. Very, very disappointed in that !! The ribs were very good and tender covered in my bottle of Kraft bar bq sauce. Her tea, I mean sugar water, was a disappointment, too. We'll go back ONCE more to see if there are any improvements because the ribs and sandwich were excellent, other than the amount of sauce. If they omit the sauce again they will never see another dime of my money. Two strikes and you're out. I'll end this review with this, "If you're gonna have a bar bq place in Doerun you gotta have bar bq sauce on the ribs !" | |
